“I find the digital medium endless.”

“What is your art background?”

“I am trained as a studio artist and am interested in the organic forms I find in orchids, irises and peonies. I have converted my painting studio to a digital studio and create metal prints from my original digital paintings.”

“What is your digital studio creation process?”

“I photograph the flowers using my phone to capture an intimate pose, while in bloom as if they were models.  From the “photo session” I make any adjustments to the image and then use it as a subject to paint from. Once completed, I send the digital file to a printer to be printed on metal.”

“How are you able to create such detailed, vivid paintings on the computer?”

“The computer allows me to create hyperreal images by being able to identify subtle changes in colors while working with an infinite number of brush sizes. I am able to combine materials that are not compatible with traditional methods.”

“What are metal prints?”

“Metal prints are a new technology using a heat process to fuse an image into an aluminum plate.  The result is a high definition print that is more stable than a typical giclee’ print or other more traditional print methods. It becomes a durable surface that can be cleaned with window cleaner and a micro fiber cloth.”

“How many prints do you produce?”

“My prints are limited editions of 15. After 15 prints of an image the image is retired.”

“How do technological advances influence the art industry today?”

“Paint In a tube freed artists from the studio and allowed outdoor painting to flourish. Digital painting has also liberated the artist from the confines of traditional materials and the way art is produced. I find the digital medium endless.”
